Keren Segal and I went backcountry skiing at Minnesing in Algonquin. We skied on the Minnesing Wilderness Ski Trail to camp on a portage route to Canisbay Lake, about a kilometer north of Polly's Point. Snow was 2 to 3 feet deep and up to a meter in places, and progress was slow where we had to pave our own path.

We reached our camp ground around 4pm and spend about an hour packing the snow and setting up. We went to sleep around 7pm, and it was nice and warm in our tent. The pads and Keren's blanket did a great job insulating us from the frozen ground. It snowed during the night and by the time we got up at 9am the area outside out tent became a winter wonderland.

Driving back to Toronto, 15min after returning the skis, Keren began to feel ill and we had to make a 3hr pitstop at the Huntsville hospital emergency room. Turns out that somebody was barely drinking any liquids and that drinking is necessary for living.
Other than almost killing Keren (we will have to plan a longer trip for that), this trip was great! I am looking forward to next time.
